About Us
Next Generation Hotel
The Sunnyside Tavern is the place where the ‘friendly local’ and the ‘next generation hotel’ have been combined to create one of the Hunter Region’s best accommodation, food, drink and entertainment hot spots.
The 2012 Winner of the Australian Hotels Association NSW Awards for Excellence – Best Pub Style Accommodation, the Sunnyside is situated just 800m from Hunter Stadium, home of the Newcastle Knights and Jets. Only a 3-minute drive from the bustling café and entertainment strip in Beaumont St Hamilton, the Sunnyside is the ideal base for your business, holiday or entertainment stopover in Newcastle.

Our beautifully appointed and maintained accommodation was completed in 2012, offering guests quality appointments and soft furnishings at affordable prices. Centrally located, the Sunnyside is within easy walking distance of major Newcastle sports and entertainment facilities, including Hunter Stadium and the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
The Sunnyside is permanently popular – and it’s not just for its prime location, superior accommodation and the best beer in town! The front bar is a sports lover’s dream with all the action on the big screens and the racing action live and up to date as well as two TAB terminals.

The pace is much more relaxed in the dining, bar and sunny courtyard areas. The restaurant offers an extensive family-friendly menu of all-time favourite dishes supplemented by a daily specials menu highlighting the best in seasonal produce, all prepared with a touch of flair by our kitchen team. Once the family team is fed, the kids can even enjoy some playtime on the free electronic games provided in the Children’s Play Area, which opens onto the courtyard, while still under the eye of Mum and Dad.
